FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
These are the most frequently asked questions, so hopefully the FAQ below will answer any questions you may have.
Who will do the circumcision?
A paediatric surgeon along with qualified nurses who specialises in this technique, will carry out this procedure. Our staff are all currently working in the NHS in Scotland. The clinic ensures that all staff have the appropriate certification and insurance to perform this procedure. We regularly audit our results and actively seek feedback from the parents of our patients.
How long will the procedure take?
The circumcision procedure itself only takes 15 – 20 minutes, but we request that you remain in the clinic for around 3 hours for assessment, consultation and a post operative review.
What will happen at the clinic?
At the clinic you will be seen by our surgeon for a consultation. After your son’s assessment, consent will be taken from both parents. Your son will then be examined and a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied. Once the local cream is working he will be taken into the procedure room and under local anaesthetic injection the surgery will be performed.
Once the circumcision has been performed your baby will be observed for about half-an-hour to ensure the procedure has been successful.
